Advanced Settings
Fine-tune translation behavior with reading direction, tone, and context settings.
Reading Direction
| Option | Description |
|---|---|
| Auto | Automatically detect based on source language (Japanese/Chinese = RTL, others = LTR) |
| RTL | Right-to-left (traditional manga reading order) |
| LTR | Left-to-right (Western reading order) |
Translation Tone
| Tone | Description |
|---|---|
| Natural | Fluent, conversational English that sounds natural (default) |
| Literal | Closer to the original wording, preserves Japanese/Korean sentence structure |
| Punchy | Short, impactful translations optimized for quick reading in small bubbles |
Multi-Page Context
When enabled, the extension maintains a rolling buffer of the last 24 translated lines. This context is included in subsequent translation requests to maintain consistent character voice and terminology. See Multi-Page Context for details.
Prefetch Pages
Set the number of pages (0–10) to pre-translate in the background while you read. See Page Prefetching for details.
Cache System
Translations are cached using SHA-256 hashes of the image URL + current settings. The cache holds up to 50 entries (LRU eviction) and survives page reloads. Changing any setting (language, font, tone) invalidates the cache for that page.
